#WITWednesday – June Event Round-up by Julia MacGregor

Did you know that in addition to formal industry events, Women in Tourism hosts regular informal meet-ups? Our #YOYP Board Member, Julia MacGregor offers a round-up of our latest #WITWednesday.

On a glorious summer’s evening at the end of June, many Women in Tourism members and guests joined us for our second #WITWednesday event. This time, we swapped coffee for cocktails and enjoyed an after-work drink at Harry’s Bar in Edinburgh’s West End.

Over the course of the evening, Women in Tourism welcomed more than twenty women from across the tourism and hospitality industry, with a real range of businesses represented. We chatted about everything from Scotland’s waterways and rock festivals, to how to secure funding applications for start-up businesses.

Where I was sitting, social media dominated much of the conversation, and we shared tips on how to make the most of the various platforms with a small team. I was delighted to see everyone making connections and swapping email addresses – these informal networking events are shaping up to be a great calendar staple.

If you’ve got an idea for a future Women in Tourism #WITWednesday or you’re interested in sponsoring a host venue, please get in touch – email us at info@womenintourism.co.uk.

We’re taking a little break over the summer months, but you’ll find the WIT team with a coffee and pastry in hand at the next #WITWednesday at The Hub, on 5th September.

Each month we’ll alternate between pre-work coffees and after work drinks. If you’ve got a preference, please do let us know on social media, or at the next event. As always, entry is free, we just ask that you register your interest by securing a ticket online. Sign up here.
